Evidence maturity

How close is the evidence to the outcome readers care about?

A mechanism, a human association, and a replicated clinical outcome answer different questions.

Study quality

Was the question tested in a way that limits bias?

Design, execution, missing data, reporting choices, and independent replication all matter.

Practical meaning

Is the measured change meaningful for people?

A detectable signal is not automatically a change in function, healthspan, or lifespan.

Personal relevance

Does the evidence apply to this population and decision?

Population, setting, duration, tradeoffs, and clinical context cannot be inferred from a headline.
